I am automation specialized graduation, and five years, the university just like you, automatic control, PLC and microcomputer and single chip computer, I only interested in SCM, then go ape to the embedded/c program "point of no return", 996,,, but still don't regret ha ha, you have the basis of c, the most easy to learn the basic Linux operating, and then look at liux system function calls, is actually similar to memory management, multithreading, multi-process, TCP communications, etc., these chapters is enough to you to learn, come on!
Can graduate into a big company, of course, the best, if not just looking for a small company, but remember not to pure chare of that kind of, also want to early technology, otherwise go wide, waste a few years time,
