Making a rectangular matrix heatmap using correlation values between variables in R

Time:10-04

I am trying to make a rectangular matrix heatmap using correlation values between variables in R. I used the basic heatmap function but I did not get the desired effect. I want the name of the variables to show on the right instead of the numbers and I dont want the lines. If there is a better graph to create a better function I will be glad. I also want to add a legend.

NB: The data consist of computed correlation values

heatmap(data10)

CodePudding user response:

We may either convert to 'long' format with pivot_longer and then use geom_tile from ggplot2

library(dplyr)
library(tidyr)
library(ggplot2)
data10 %>%
    pivot_longer(cols = -Electrode) %>%
    ggplot(aes(x = name, y = Electrode, fill = value))
      geom_tile()

Or using heatmap

heatmap(`row.names<-`(as.matrix(data10[,-1]), data10[[1]]))

-output
