The SELECT statement is the most simple a SELECT * FROM students
Perform (F5) to normal results but debugging (Alt + F5) would be an error
For this is where we have a problem?

May be there is something wrong with SSMS,
You install a new SSMS try looking down (SSMS 17.9.1) :

SSMS just client, has nothing to do with essentially a service, installation is more fast, don't worry about anything,
