Why do people still make custom Wordpress sites when Elementor exists?

Time:07-07

I am a beginner in wordpress and I always prefer to learn first what happens in wordpress and to learn by myself to convert a static theme to wordpress with the help of PHP. I've watched a lot of tutorials and I still don't get the point why people still struggle with PHP when there are page builders like Elementor. Literally, with the help of Elementor, any website can be created and any design can be turned into a work. Can someone explain to me a little more why people are still developing custom themes?

CodePudding user response:

Elementor and other WordPress themes can be great for rapid development in certain situations but there are a number of reasons that someone may not want to use one and build their own.

Some of these reasons include:

  1. Cost
  2. Reliance on a 3rd party for the functionality of the website and professional product
  3. It can introduce limitations when you may need to extend your website's functionality ie. accessibility

PHP is not necessarily a 'struggle' for developers that work with WordPress and agencies often prefer to build their own library of themes/plugins that they have complete control over and can tune to their needs and their client's needs.

CodePudding user response:

Because Elementor won't ever be able to produce such optimized and effective code as a real developer can.
