In the attached image one section of the building is lighter than every other part of the image when you hover that section. Is this possible to do with image mask or image clip? Or maybe with something like a map highlight?

Any advice is appreciated

i think you should darker it in photoshop and then when you hoever the image changes to the one where u have dark on that specific area

Haven't tried but the other option would be to tryout map / area

you can find the coordinates of the image here

Once you have coordinates you can apply CSS on that part using Jquery.
